Her Royal Highness Lolo Catherine Nwazunafia Orizu was the esteemed first wife of His Royal Highness Igwe Dr. Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, the 20th Obi of Otolo and Igwe of Nnewi Kingdom in Anambra State, Nigeria. Born Catherine Mbelu, she became an integral part of the Nnewi royal family through her marriage to Igwe Orizu III.
Throughout her life, Lolo Catherine was celebrated for her unwavering dedication to the Nnewi community. She was deeply involved in various philanthropic activities, particularly focusing on the upliftment of women and children. Her efforts significantly contributed to advancements in education and healthcare within the community. Her compassionate nature and commitment to social causes earned her immense respect and admiration from those around her.
In April 2024, Lolo Catherine passed away, leaving behind a legacy of service and devotion. Her funeral, held from October 23 to 27, 2024, was a testament to her impact, drawing dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. Notable attendees included Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Somto Udeze, and prominent business leaders such as Chief Innocent Chukwuma, CEO of Innoson Group, and Chief Cletus Ibeto. The ceremony was marked by traditional rites, cultural displays, and heartfelt tributes, reflecting the deep respect and affection the community held for her.
