Ezinne Lady Jane Udewo Amaechi Nnamani was a woman of grace, substance, and uncommon dedicationโknown for her steadfast commitment to faith, family, education, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. As the beloved wife of Chief Ken Nnamani, GCON, former President of the Nigerian Senate, she exemplified the virtues of humility, quiet strength, and dignified service that earned her admiration across both public and private spheres.

Early Life and Education
Lady Jane was born on October 1, 1965, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to the Umu-Okonwegwu family of Umunnugwu, Amechi Uwani, Awkunanaw, Enugu South LGA, Enugu State. Her parentsโLate Mr. Yaro Onah and Late Mrs. Margret Onahโinstilled in her the values of humility, compassion, discipline, unity, and a deep reverence for God, which remained foundational throughout her life.
She began her education at Agbani Road Primary School and proceeded to the prestigious Anglican Girls Grammar School, Awkunanaw, Enugu for her secondary education. Lady Jane earned a Bachelorโs degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Business School, Lagos. At the time of her passing, she was in the final stages of completing a Doctorate in Business Management, a testament to her lifelong pursuit of excellence and self-development.
Marriage and Family Life

Despite living in the United States, Lady Jane ensured the smooth running of their Abuja household while her husband served as Senate President. Her attention to detail, generosity to staff, and loving guidance created a home of harmony, structure, and warmth.
Career and Public Service

In 2016, she was appointed to the Governing Council of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where she contributed significantly to educational advancement. She mentored and supported countless studentsโparticularly those from disadvantaged backgroundsโreflecting her deep belief in education as a vehicle for transformation.
Philanthropy and Community Impact
Lady Janeโs heart overflowed with generosity and compassion. She consistently gave back to her community, especially during festive seasons, by distributing food and clothing to widows and less privileged women. She spearheaded the renovation of the library at Union Secondary School, Awkunanawโher husbandโs alma materโand filled it with modern books.
At her alma mater, Anglican Girls Grammar School, she contributed significantly to the construction of a modern dining hall and provided meals and mentorship to the students. These selfless efforts were hallmarks of her enduring legacy of service.
Faith and Religious Life
Lady Jane was a devout Christian who served with passion and devotion. She led the renovation and furnishing of St. Johnโs Methodist Church in Amechi-Uwani, including providing state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and constructing new restroom facilities. She was a prominent member of the Womenโs Fellowship, a Lady of John Wesley Methodist Church, and an active worshipper at Good Hope United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.
Her life was a testament to her faithโquiet yet powerful, consistent yet deeply impactful.
Legacy and Passing
On May 4, 2023, Lady Jane Nnamani passed away in Enugu after a minor surgery. Her death shocked many, and tributes poured in from across the nation. A burial planning committee, chaired by Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, was inaugurated to organize a befitting farewell. Friends, family, and associates recalled her kindness, mentoring, selflessness, and unwavering support of her husband, children, and community.
She is survived by her husband, Senator Ken Nnamani, GCON, and their four children.
Passing and Funeral Arrangements

On Thursday, May 18, 2023, a formal Burial Planning Committee was inaugurated during a well-attended meeting at the Nnamani family residence in Amechi, Enugu. The committee, inaugurated by Barr. Onyemuche Nnamani on behalf of the family, was tasked with organizing a befitting farewell for the late matriarch.
The Committee was chaired by Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, with Senator Ben Collins Ndu as Co-Chair. The Secretariat was led by Hon. Ifeanyi Nnaji and Sheriff John Egbo. The committee further comprised 14 Subcommittees, overseeing various aspects of the burialโfrom media and publicity to security, logistics, hospitality, and cultural rites.

- Works and Venue: Chaired by Engr. Hon. Uche Nwobodo
- Entertainment (Food): Chaired by Hon. Deaconess Dr. Ifeoma Nwobodo
- Entertainment (Drinks): Chaired by Mr. Chibuike Nwatu
- Media and Publicity: Chaired by Hon. Barr. Nana Ogbodo
- Security: Led by DCP Fidelis Ogarabe
- Church Service: Coordinated by Very Rev. Joel Okorie
- Medical and Mortuary Matters: Overseen by Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okoro
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt. Hon. Ubosi, thanked all committee members for their commitment and urged them to deliver a burial program that honors Lady Nnamaniโs legacy. He praised her virtues as a woman of peace, dignity, and enduring grace, and called upon the community, friends, and associates to rally around the family in supportโfinancially and otherwiseโas is customary in Igbo and Nigerian tradition.

Ezinne Lady Jane Nnamaniโs legacy is one of quiet strength, spiritual devotion, and unwavering dedication to family and community. She stood firmly behind one of Nigeriaโs most respected political figures, offering support away from the spotlight, yet leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Her passing represents a significant loss not only to her immediate family but also to the larger community of Enugu State and the Nigerian nation. Her life reminds us of the profound role that women play as anchors of faith, pillars of strength, and silent builders of legacies.
She is survived by her husband, Chief Ken Nnamani, children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives, friends, and admirers who continue to celebrate her memory with love and reverence.
Lady Jane Nnamaniโs life was a symphony of grace, purpose, and quiet strength. She was a mentor, mother, friend, and servant of God who left the world better than she found it. Though gone too soon, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the institutions she supported, and the family she nurtured.
Her life reminds us that greatness is not always loudโit is often lived in quiet, loving service.
