Okenwa, born Ikeh Okechukwu Ramsey on June 25, 1987, is a Nigerian content creator and media personality best known as the founder and face of IGBOGist Broadcast.
He hails from Umuoka, Nvurunvu in Uturu, located in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria. Okenwa was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Onyinye Ohaike, who raised him with a strong connection to Igbo values and traditions.
He pursued his higher education at Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, where he not only studied but also immersed himself deeply in the local culture. During his time on campus, he lived in the Aro Mmiriukwu area and became fluent in the Uturu dialect. This early exposure to traditional Igbo life significantly influenced his later work in promoting the Igbo language and heritage.

Career
After graduating, Okenwa transformed his passion for Igbo culture into digital content. In 2018, he officially launched his media brand, IGBOGist Media, establishing the IGBO Gist Media YouTube channel on August 5, 2018.
Through the platform, popularly known as IGBOGist Broadcast (and occasionally referred to as Igbo Gist TV), he creates entertaining skits and videos that celebrate the richness of Igbo life. His content often blends comedy with cultural insights, portraying everyday scenarios and traditional values with humor and authenticity.
One of the standout elements of his content is the recurring on-screen couple dynamic between Okenwa and a character named Ugomma, who plays his fictional wife. Their chemistry and relatable storytelling have become fan favorites, especially in sketches depicting humorous family life.

This blend of media, culture, and business has made Okenwa a prominent grassroots personality, especially within online Igbo-speaking communities.
Personal Life
Okenwa is married to Chinenye Stephine Edeh, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edeh Nnwodogbu from Ndigbu Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. The couple celebrated their traditional wedding on January 11, 2022.
Due to the popularity of the “Ugomma” character in his videos, many fans mistakenly believe she is his real-life wife. However, Ugomma is a fictional role played by an actress, serving as a creative partner rather than a spouse.
In early 2025, Okenwa publicly shared the joyful news of the birth of his second child, stating:
“Congratulations to us as we welcomed a newborn baby boy in our home today.”
He and his wife are proud parents of two children. While Okenwa keeps his family life relatively private, it’s evident that his personal experiences—fatherhood, marriage, and cultural heritage—continue to inspire the engaging and heartfelt content he shares through IGBOGist Broadcast.
