Fr. Ikpenwa was born into the royal family of His Royal Highness, Igwe Albert U. Ikpenwa, and Mrs. Veronica Ikpenwa. His upbringing in Ndeaboh, a community in Enugu State, provided a foundation rooted in tradition and faith. โ
Education
His educational journey began at Central School Ndeabor in 1973, where he completed his primary education in 1979. He then attended Marist Brothersโ Juniorate in Uturu from 1980 to 1985, earning his West African Secondary School Certificate. Pursuing his calling to the priesthood, he studied philosophy at Seat of Wisdom Seminary, Owerri (1987โ1991), obtaining a Bachelorโs degree in Philosophy. He furthered his theological studies at Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu (1992โ1996), earning a Bachelorโs degree in Theology. โ
Priestly Ordination and Early Ministry
Fr. Ikpenwa was ordained a deacon on December 16, 1995, and a priest on August 24, 1996. His early ministry included roles as Assistant Parish Priest at Sacred Heart Parish, Enugu (1996โ1997), and Financial Administrator at Bigard Memorial Seminary (1997โ2001).
Advanced Studies and International Service
In 2003, he earned a Licentiate in Moral Theology from Accademia Alfonsiana Istituto Superiore Di Teologia Morale in Rome. He continued his studies, achieving a Doctorate in 2009. During this period, he served in Germany at Pfarrei Sankt Marien Simbach Am Inn (2004โ2012), combining academic pursuits with pastoral duties. โ
