Early Life
Daniel Chukwuemeka Ofiaeli Nwakalo hails from Eziafor, Igbariam. During his childhood, he lived with a relative as a house help. He began his education at Woliwo Primary School, Onitsha, before transferring to Pioneers Primary School. Raised in a devout Christian household, he initially followed the faith of his family. His father had aspired to become a reverend father, but his family strongly opposed his decision.
Mmiri Enwe Ilo revealed that he never intended to become a dibia (native doctor) but was destined for it. His mother faced a similar fateโshe was also called to serve as a native doctor but resisted, which, according to him, led to the loss of five of her children. He recounted being tormented in his dreams by Ezenwanyi Sobali, a powerful goddess, who repeatedly called his name and demanded that he embrace his spiritual destiny.
Seeking deliverance, he turned to a priest for prayers, but instead of salvation, the priest advised him to accept his calling. Despite his deep devotion, including fasting and intense prayers, he found no escape from the persistent spiritual summons. He described suffering multiple spiritual attacks, which ultimately left him with a physical deformityโone of his legs became longer than the other. Eventually, after years of resistance, he surrendered to his fate and became a native doctor.
He attended secondary school in Awawa but dropped out in his third year of higher secondary education.
