Before his rise in Nollywood, Oganiru served as a naval officer. Rich Oganiru began his entertainment career as a gospel musician, and in 1997, he won the Best Gospel Artiste award at the Nigerian Song Festival (NISOFES). He performed in a group initially, releasing multiple collaborative albums. In his later years, he worked on his solo debut album with plans for release in August, featuring eight tracks that blended country music, reggae, and inspirational gospel.
